Samsung Galaxy smartphone and tablet users can now access Perplexity Pro, the premium version of the AI chatbot Perplexity, for free for one year — a service typically priced at $20 per month or $200 per year.

This offer is available only to Galaxy users. To activate it, users must download the Perplexity AI app from the Galaxy Store, create a free account, and sign in. Those who previously installed the app must uninstall and reinstall it through the Galaxy Store to be eligible.

Perplexity AI is a search-style chatbot known for providing fast, accurate answers. While basic search features are free and unlimited for all users, advanced tools are restricted for non-paying users: “Pro Search” and “Deep Search” are limited to three and 500 uses per day respectively, while document-based search is capped at five documents per day.

In contrast, Perplexity Pro offers unlimited “Pro Search,” up to 500 daily “Deep Searches,” and 25 document uploads per day.

One key feature of Perplexity Pro is access to multiple large language models (LLMs), including GPT-4.1, Claude 4.0, and Gemini 2.5 Pro. These models differ in strengths: GPT-4.1 excels in technical writing, Claude 4.0 is often preferred for emotional tone, and Gemini 2.5 Pro provides a balanced approach for general tasks.

Perplexity’s aggressive promotion is seen as part of a broader push to expand its user base amid increasing competition in the AI chatbot market. Similar one-year free trials have been offered to subscribers of Xfinity, an internet service provider.

Samsung has also invested in Perplexity and is reportedly working to integrate its AI features into Bixby, the Samsung Internet browser, and its next flagship smartphone line, the Galaxy S26 series.
