The affected product is the Anker PowerCore 10000, a portable lithium-ion battery. The recall covers approximately 1,158,000 units of model number A1263, which were sold online between June 2016 and December 2022 for about $27 through the Anker website, Amazon, Newegg, eBay, and other retailers.

The model number can be found on the underside of the device, along with a serial number beginning with “SN.” The front of the product is labeled with the brand name “Anker.”

The recall was issued after reports of the battery overheating, posing a fire and explosion hazard. According to the CPSC, there have been 19 such incidents to date, including 2 minor burn injuries and 11 cases of property damage totaling $60,700.

Consumers who own the recalled battery are advised to stop using it immediately and request a free replacement. To begin the process, users must write the word “recalled” along with their name and the date on the battery, then submit a photo that clearly shows the model and serial numbers.

The CPSC also warned that lithium-ion batteries must be properly disposed of due to fire hazards. Consumers should contact local waste management facilities for disposal instructions and avoid throwing the product in household trash.

More information, including how to request a replacement, is available on the official website.
