Open Bank is set to launch a new branch in Garden Grove, California, with a soft opening expected next month, marking a strategic expansion in a key multicultural hub.

According to sources in the Korean American banking sector, Open Bank is currently renovating a unit at 9622 Garden Grove Blvd, situated in the front section of the plaza that houses Arirang Market. The space was previously occupied by HSBC until 2019 and has remained vacant since.

The bank has begun staffing and preparations for the soft launch, which is scheduled for June 2025. The move is seen as a strategic step, not only to serve the established Korean American population but also the growing Vietnamese community, which has increasingly settled in the area in recent years.

With this new addition, Garden Grove will now host four branches operated by Korean American banks. Bank of Hope and Hanmi Bank already maintain local branches, while US Metro Bank is headquartered in the city.

This latest development comes as Korean American banks accelerate branch network expansion. PCB Bank plans to open a new location in Atlanta next month, and CBB Bank recently held a grand opening ceremony for its Fort Lee, New Jersey branch on May 8.

Open Bank’s Garden Grove branch underscores the institution’s intent to broaden its customer base and solidify its presence in diverse communities across Southern California.
