Southern California Edison Credit to Cut April, October Bills

$112 Total Credit Issued in Two Installments

Customers of Southern California Edison (SCE) will receive a total of $112 in electricity bill credits this year, with $56 applied in both April and October, according to a report by the LA Daily News on March 25. The Southern California Edison credit is part of the state’s broader effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition, Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) customers will receive a single $86.60 credit on their April utility bill.

Climate Credit Program Funds Relief

The California state government previously announced a $2.4 billion climate credit program, which provides financial relief to utility customers as part of its greenhouse gas reduction initiative. The credits are applied automatically and do not require customer action.

As part of the program, the average Southern California household will receive approximately $142 in total credits on their April gas and electricity bills combined.

Breakdown by Utility Provider

While SCE customers will receive two separate credits totaling $112—distributed in April and October—SoCalGas customers will receive a single credit of $86.60 for the year. The April billing cycle will reflect the credits directly on the statement.

The program aims to ease the financial burden on households while promoting cleaner energy practices throughout the state.
