Harvard University is ranked the number one university in the world.
According to the 2024 Best Global Universities rankings released by U.S. News & World Report on June 25, Harvard University, MIT, and Stanford University secured the top three spots.
Following them, the University of California Berkeley ranked 5th, and the University of Washington in Seattle took 7th place.

In New York, Columbia University was ranked 9th globally, Cornell University in Ithaca ranked 19th, and New York University (NYU) in New York City ranked 32nd. Additionally, the University of Rochester in Rochester ranked 199th, and SUNY Stony Brook ranked 227th.
In New Jersey, Princeton University ranked 18th, and Rutgers University’s New Brunswick campus ranked 148th.
Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, secured the 10th spot.
The top 15 universities globally were all from the United States and the United Kingdom. Besides the aforementioned U.S. universities, the University of Oxford ranked 4th, the University of Cambridge ranked 6th, University College London ranked 7th, and Imperial College London ranked 12th.
In the Asia-only ranking, Tsinghua University in China ranked 1st, with the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University taking 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.
In South Korea, Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Sejong University were named the top three, ranking 135th, 205th, and 241st globally.
For this ranking, U.S. News & World Report evaluated 2,250 universities from over 100 countries, including 198 universities in the U.S., 98 in the U.K., and 422 in China. The rankings were based on a total score derived from 13 criteria, including global research reputation, regional research reputation, publications, the number of highly cited papers, and international collaboration.
