Apple a day really does keep the doctor away. Eating even a small bit of apple everyday decreases the risk of dying early – by 35%!

According to the research conducted by the University of Western Australia research team, women who ate 100g or more apples a day were likely to live longer than those who did not. This result was found by tracking 1,456 women aged 70 to 85 for 15 years.
Dr. Jonathan Hodgson from the University of Western Australia’s School of Medicine and Pharmacology said that apples and any other fruits with high levels of fiber and flavonoids are likely to be much beneficial for health.
Rich fiber in apples may lower cholesterol and blood pressure. Flavonoids, amply contained in apples, berries, red beans, and many other red and yellow fruits, lower the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Hodgson said people who eat apples may be more likely to have healthy lifestyles with decreased risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease, or other diseases that can cause dying early.
