BTS’s book “Beyond the Story” debuted atop The New York Times Best Seller list on Wednesday, becoming the first book written by a Korean author to land at No. 1 on the chart.
The book topped the Hardcover Nonfiction section on the New York Times website, 10 days after the book was published on July 9.
“The result includes weekly sales and preordered amounts,” BTS’s agency Big Hit Music said in a press release Thursday.
Written by Kang Myeong-seok, the book had already taken Korea’s bookstores by storm, shooting straight to the top of the bestseller charts when preorders began last month.
It also became the daily best-selling book on Amazon in several countries on the day of release, including the United States, Britain, Brazil and Australia. The book has been released in 23 languages and contains interviews with the band’s members, as well as their memoirs.
