Le Sserafim’s latest album “Unforgiven” became the most-sold girl group album in terms of first-day sales, according to the girl group’s agency Source Music on Wednesday.
The girl group’s first full-length album, “Unforgiven,” released Monday, sold 1.02 million albums on the day of its release, making it the highest first-day sales for any K-pop girl group or female artist in Korea.
The sales figure for “Unforgiven” is a significant increase from Le Sserafim’s previous releases, with the first-day sales more than doubling compared to the 408,000 albums recorded by “Antifragile,” and still significantly higher than the same album’s first-week sales, at 567,000 albums.
The new lead track “Unforgiven (feat. Nile Rodgers)” is also being received positively on streaming services, with it landing at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 7 on streaming service Bugs, Melon and Genie’s real-time chart.
“Unforgiven,” released a day before the girl group’s one-year debut anniversary, is a full-length album featuring 13 tracks. The first three tracks in the album, “The World Is My Oyster (2023 Ver.),” “Fearless (2023 Ver.)” and “Blue Flame (2023 Ver.)” are re-recorded tracks from the girl group’s first EP, “Fearless” (2022).
Le Sserafim debuted in 2022 as a six-member girl group with Sakura, Kim Chae-won, Huh Yun-jin, Kazuha, Kim Ga-ram and Hong Eun-chae. Sakura and Kim Chae-won are former members of girl group IZ*ONE, a project girl group formed by the 12 finalists of Mnet’s hit idol audition program “Produce 48” (2018). Huh was also a contestant on the show. Agency Source Music terminated its contract and removed Kim Ga-ram from the group just 19 days after its debut following allegations of bullying.
