HD Hyundai CEO visits subsidiaries in Alabama and Georgia

HD Hyundai CEO Chung Ki-sun visited the shipbuilder’s subsidiary in Alabama to meet with its employees Friday.

Chung is part of the 122-member business delegation that accompanied President Yoon Suk Yeol on his state visit to the United States.

The CEO made rounds to HD Hyundai Electric’s transformer factory in Montgomery, Alabama, and subsidiaries in Atlanta to encourage Korean employees living abroad.

Established in 2011, HD Hyundai Electric’s Alabama-based subsidiary has 381 employees on a 38,678-square-meter (9.6 acres) site. HD Hyundai Construction Equipment and HD Hyundai Infracore also have subsidiaries in Atlanta.

Chung personally expressed gratitude to six employees at the Alabama plant whose family members are veterans of the Korean War.

“As CEO of a defense company, I am always grateful for the courage and sacrifice of war veterans,” Chung said. “I hope an opportunity arrives where I can show them how much the country has developed, the country they fought for and protected, risking their lives.”

“If my father were alive, he would have been very happy to see how much Korea has progressed,” Jeffery Warr, an employee at the Alabama plant since 2012, said.
