3 Korean Americans named Leaders of Influence for Minority Attorneys 2024

Three Korean-American attorneys have been recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal as one of the ‘Leaders of Influence: Minority Attorneys 2024’.

On January 26, the publication listed Jason Kim of Blank Rome LLP, Nary Kim of Kendall Brill & Kelly (KBK) LLP, and Daniel Ahn of Reed Smith LLP among the top 84 most influential minority attorneys in Los Angeles County.

Jason Kim is a partner at Blank Rome, a law firm with more than 650 lawyers in 14 locations around the world, including New York and Los Angeles.

With over 30 years of experience, he specializes in cross-border deals and financial advisory work, as noted by the journal.

Some of his notable cases include representing an issuer-side representation of a Korean airline in a $200 million private placement of unsecured bonds and a Korean investor’s side in a social online gaming company in a $130 million acquisition of a controlling interest in a U.S. social online gaming company.

Nary Kim, a partner on KBK’s Media & Entertainment team, has played a key role in seven KBK trial teams, winning multiple legal battles involving prominent film and television studios.

She rapidly advanced to partner within five years, demonstrating the requisite expertise for developing winning cases, according to the firm.

In the past year alone, Nary Kim significantly contributed to dismissing child pornography charges for a controversial Nirvana album cover photo and a $500 million lawsuit against Paramount Pictures for alleged sexual exploitation, filed by the stars of the 1968 film ‘Romeo and Juliet, Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting.

Daniel Ahn, a partner at Reed Smith, is an accomplished trial and appellate lawyer, nationally recognized for his investigative skills and experience as a former federal prosecutor.

Ahn’s expertise includes the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) over Asia and False Claims Act actions. He also has extensive experience in corporate investigations and white-collar criminal defense.
