16-year-old boy shot to death in Koreatown armed robbery attempt

Authorities said a 16 year-old boy was fatally shot to death after a suspected attempted robbery in the Koreatown.

According to LAPD investigators, two teenagers were sitting in a vehicle at around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday near Vermont Avenue and Seventh Street when a man approached them and attempted to rob them.

The driver drove away and the suspect fired at the vehicle multiple times, and struck the passenger.

The driver stopped at a 7-Eleven at Olympic Boulevard and Burlington Avenue and contacted LAPD officers. When LAPD dispatched to the victims, the victim in the passenger seat was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect remains at large, and officials are conducting further investigation.
