The popular hot sauce that sparked a shortage last year has halted production again.

Huy Fong Foods, maker of Sriracha sauce, recently announced that it will stop production of its popular condiment by Labor Day, September 2, according to USA Today.

The company said it is halting production of the sauce until the next chili season, which is expected to be around Labor Day.

The outlet explained that the red jalapeño peppers, the main ingredient in Sriracha, are not as red as the company would like them to be. This could be related to the flavor of the sauce, it added.

Last year, Huy Fong Foods temporarily stopped producing the sauce after an extreme drought interrupted the harvest of red jalapeño peppers in California and New Mexico.

The shortage caused demand to skyrocket, with a 28-ounce bottle of sriracha sauce, which normally costs around $7.99, selling for up to $70 on eBay.
