As Chuseok, the Korean equivalent of Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. is only two weeks away, Korean-American banks are providing free wire transfer services to celebrate the holiday.
CBB Bank, Shinhan America, and US Metro Bank are starting the service on Sept. 20, while Bank of Hope, Pacific City Bank, Uniti Bank and Open Bank will provide free wire transfer until Oct. 4.
At Hanmi Bank, free wire transfers are available to South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, India, and Pakistan.
All customers of the banks are eligible for the service. Wire transfers for business purposes are not applicable. Each bank may have different regulations for the services.
