Singer-turned-actress Han Sun-hwa has officially left girl group SECRET. The group’s agency, TS Entertainment, said on Monday, “Han chose not to renew her contract with us, therefore ending her obligation to SECRET. The group will continue to exist as a trio with the other members.”
Han has been actively pursuing an acting career outside of her role in the girl group. She previously appeared in the SBS drama “God’s Gift: 14 Days” (2014) and MBC’s “Rosy Lovers” (2014), taking home two Best New Actress awards for her roles that year.
The actress posted a message on her Instagram account following the official announcement.
“First of all, I’d like to express my gratitude for the continuous love that we received from our fans during the last seven years. Looking back on it, I can’t imagine how much support you provided for us when we were just starting out, not knowing anything.
The decision I made did not come easily, and as much as it pains me to have done it, I also look forward to the possibilities it will bring in the future. With a fresh new start in mind, I promise to continue working hard no matter how many times I stumble.”
Former groupmate Jun Hyo-seong expressed her support for Han on Instagram, saying, “Even though I can’t share the same stage as Han anymore, I will continue to cheer on her acting career.”
