Popular Korean variety show, Running Man, eventually made a decision to end the show. Despites hundreds of thousands of fans’ wishes for the show to continue with the current cast members, the show is to meet the end in February, 2017.
On Friday, December 16, SBS Running Man production crew announced to go without cast change until following February.
To the sudden announcement from the production crew, fans across the world are reacting with shock and disappointment. Since 2010, six crew members, including recently exited Gary, have led the show, showing the irreplaceable chemistry.
Nothing has been determined about the show to replace Running Man, which airs at the prime time of Sunday afternoon. However, guesses are narrowed down to two options – a second season of Running Man and another show like X-Man
Even though major channel’s seasonal production of variety show is unprecedented, there is a possibility as the production crew has mentioned the second season discussing the recent crew change.
Another popular guess for the show to replace the prime time is a variety show like X-Man. X-Man is a popular variety show in 2006, hosted by Yoo Jae-suk and Kang Ho-Dong. As many are awaiting to see the reunion of Yoo Jae-suk and Kang Ho-dong in a variety show, shows like X-Man can be successful as well.
Whichever option SBS chooses, fans will miss Yoo Jae-suk, Kim Jong-kook, Song Ji-hyo, Haha, Ji Suk-jin, Lee Kwang-soo, and Gary running and chasing all over the place.
