‘Produce 101 Season 2’ Contestant Apologizes for Using VIXX N’s Choreography without Credit

While the interests in the second season of widely popular K-pop idol debut competition show, Produce 101, is hiking prior to its premiere, another contestant has been involved in a controversy.

Jung Won-chul, a trainee at HF Music Company, displayed his choreographic talent through the show’s pre-released 1-minute video, which later turned out to be the same choreography VIXX member N performed at the group’s concert, “VIXX LIVE FANTASIA ELYSIUM.”

Twitter user ‘VanillaSugar929’ compared the two performances by placing their videos side by side. Choreographies in two videos synchronized and VIXX fans got enraged because Jung Won-chul did not credit N for the performance.

The controversy got inflamed even more when it was revealed that N’s performance has never been released officially.

To the growing criticism, Jung Won-chul’s agency HF Music Company released official statement on March 14, apologizing for using VIXX N’s personal creative work without asking permission or giving a credit.

“We sincerely apologize for using VIXX N’s individual creative work without indication of copyright and for proceeding such usage without prior confirmation,” said the agency through the statement. “We will learn from this incident and make sure that we don’t make another mistake like this again.”

VIXX’s agency Jellyfish Entertainment has officially responded to the statement, that they are accepting the apology.

Produce 101 Season 2 airs its premiere on April 7.
