South Korea’s supermodel contest, through which various celebrities including Lee So-ra, Han Ye-seul, Han Ji-hye, and Lee Sung-kyung made debuts, is happening this year as well. However, few reasons make this year’s contest more special than ever.

Supermodel Contest 2016, which is to be held on December 22, will upgrade its scale, celebrating its 25th year. 2,700 models auditioned for this year’s contest, including those from countries outside of Korea.

Candidates were narrowed down through SBS’s reality show, I’m Supermodel. Among the candidates are JYP choreographer Park Nam-yong, stand-in for Seol-hyun and Kang So-ra, and comedian Lee Kyung-sil’s daughter, Son Su-ah.

As candidates for the main contest are finalized, tomorrow’s contest will be hosted by Shin Dong-yup, Gong Hyun-joo, and Kang Seung-hyun.

In addition, the contest will spend a meaningful time to commemorate fashion designer Andre Kim. Actress Lee Young-ae and actors Song Seung-hun and Lee Joon-ki will take parts in the commemoration ceremony.

2016 Supermodel Contest will air live through SBS, SBS Plus, SBS funE, and SBS MTV on December 22 at 5:20 PM KST.
