Three years ago, South Korean film director Bong Joon-ho rode the train named Snowpiercer to the global film scene. This year, director Yeon Sang-ho caught the next train, Train to Busan, to get to the same destination.
Train to Busan is a zombie thriller film. Although various disaster films found success in Korea, zombie has not been a familiar creature to Korean audiences. In Train to Busan, Yeon fuses disaster blockbuster and zombie thriller.
Successful businessman Seok-wu (Gong Yoo) takes his daughter Su-an (Kim Su-an) back to his ex-wife on the train from Seoul to Busan. In this high-speed train, passengers are threatened by creatures infected by some unidentified virus.
As passengers are stuck in the speeding locomotive, Train to Busan captivates its audiences while building up to the climax at full tilt.
In Los Angeles, Train to Busan will open on Friday, July 22nd in CGV Cinemas located in Koreatown Madang Mall.
